Immigrant Heritage Month celebrates Nashville's diversity
Nashville Mayor David Briley kicked off the city’s Immigrant Heritage Month celebration at the Nashville Farmers’ Market Friday morning.
While introducing the mayor, NFM Executive Director Tasha Kennard took the opportunity to call NFM the “perfect host” for the event. “Walking through the Market, you quickly get a sense of the many cultures that have shaped our community,” she said. “Nashville is lucky to be home to so many outstanding farmers, artisans, nonprofits and small businesses operating at the Market.
“Many of their stories start in different corners of the globe,” she continued, “but they’ve put down roots in Nashville and all are helping to grow our city into the unique and beautiful place we love.”
The event concluded with an invitation to everyone present to add flags representing their heritage to the “I [heart] Nashville” sign, which will remain on display at the Market for the near future.
