Small Business Coordinator Johnisha Levi (left) and Programs Coordinator Maria Marton are the newest staff members at the Nashville Farmers’ Market.

The most wonderful thing happened here at the Market this week as two new staffers joined our team under newly created position titles.

Johnisha Levi (“juh-NISH-ah”; at left in photo) is our new small business coordinator. She will work with participants in our Grow Local Kitchen, Artisan and Farm residency programs to help them grow their businesses using a variety of resources. Johnisha comes to Nashville from Boston, where she most recently managed nutrition education for a nonprofit that focused on culturally based healthier eating. Previously, she worked as a pastry chef for a century farm and as a lawyer. Her husband works on the legal staff at Bridgestone.

Maria Marton (“mar-TONE”; at right in photo) fills our programs coordinator position, where she will manage NFM’s Vanderbilt and Azafrán neighborhood markets, coordinate special events and oversee the Fresh Bucks program. She comes to us from Fort Collins, Colorado, where she was sales and marketing manager for a restaurant in the Sage Restaurant Group. Previously, Maria taught nutrition and garden education as an AmeriCorps volunteer in Iowa.
