Cooking classes at NFM
Did you start the new year with a resolution to cook more in 2019?
The Nashville Farmers’ Market has teamed with multiple partners to offer a number of cooking classes for all skill levels.
“The downtown location of the Market offers shoppers a year-round experience for shopping seasonally with local farmers and food artisans,” says Jilah Kalil of Cooking Up — one of our teaching partners along with Nashville Community Education. “Teaching at the Market means that those taking my classes can learn to cook simply and then shop for fresh, local and seasonal foods to cook at home.”
Jilah explains that most people — across all racial and economic lines — believe cooking to be too time-consuming and too expensive. “But by teaching meal planning and what to keep in the pantry — alongside cooking without a recipe — most end up with that Aha! moment when they realize that cooking is neither too expensive or time-consuming, and that it's enjoyable.”
