Turnip Green Festival

Celebrating its 25th year, the Nashville Farmers' Market is hosting their annual Turnip Green Festival on Saturday, November 4. From 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., the fall festival will celebrate all things turnip greens, including live music, fall produce, 400 pounds of Smiley’s famous cast iron cauldron of braised greens with smoked BBQ, cornbread and beans, Thanksgiving-themed vendor specials, a baking contest, kids' zone, food trucks, and more! The event is free, and parking is also free. Special thank you to event sponsor Smiley's Farm.

Fall baked goods contest

Bring your best fall baked good for a chance to win first, second or third place in our annual fall baked goods contest! Winners will receive a gift card to Lilly's Hot Chicken! There are two categories: cornbread and sweet baked goods. All entries must be 100% homemade (no store bought dough, pie crusts, etc.) and must include the recipe and contact information with it or it will not be accepted.

Contest rules

  1. The entry deadline has now passed. Good luck to everyone who entered!

  2. A written or typed recipe must be submitted with each entry, along with your name and phone number. This information will not be shared with the judges. Place this information in a ziplock bag and bring it along with your entry.

  3. Bring your entry to our commissary kitchen between 11:15 and 11:45 a.m. The commissary kitchen is located between the outdoor farm sheds and indoor market house. Late entries will not be accepted.

  4. Participants may enter up to two entries TOTAL. No more than two entries will be accepted.

  5. Please do not bring add-ons to your recipes, such as whipped cream, ice cream, etc. 

  6. Entries will be judged on appearance, texture and flavor.

  7. Participants must be present to win. Winners will receive a gift card to Lilly's Hot Chicken! Prizes will be announced on Saturday, November 4 from the band stage at approximately 1 p.m.
